Work-Life
Technological advancements such as portable computers, e-mail, and cell phones have made it possible for employees to work beyond the confine of their physical office space. Employees can answer e-mails and work on deadlines after-hours when they are not officially "on the job."
The challenge: creating a product that clearly distinguished between activities relating to work and activities relating to personal life.

THE MYTH OF WORKLIFE BALANCE
The Work-Life balance app has one goal: trying to solve work-life imbalance. This might seem like an easy task at first, but with evolving technology, the definition of "work" is getting blurrier, as is the definition of "life."

PROTOTYPE
Balancing Act
AWARY FROM WORK, AWAY FROM PHONE
First, the app rates all daily activities between 1 and 10, with 1 meaning "all work" and 10 meaning "all life." Then, it simply sums up all activities and tells users how they're doing.

A HAND CRAFTED ADVENTURE
In the space of six months, three leading ladies have taken the spotlight: Jaina Proudmoore, the Alliance mage who will act as the final boss of the upcoming Battle of Dazar’Alor raid dungeon; Sylvanas, the undead Warchief of the Horde; and Queen Azshara, leader of the serpentine naga and big-bad-in-the-shadows. Each got her own Warbringers short this summer leading up to the launch of the expansion. These are definitely not your girl-next-door storylines either.
Using a simple ranking and tracking system, this app easily categorizes different activities that are a bit vague to define. Is going to a bar after work with the boss work or life? Is exercising in the gym before an important presentation work or life? Is listening to a TED talk about programming while cooking family dinner work or life? These distinctions might seem minor, but they all contribute to work-life imbalance.
